What we do

A CLIMBING CLUB.
NOT A GYM.
NOT A GUIDE SERVICE.

A local, member-run club with an unpaid committee. We're out on the rock two Saturdays a month, March through December. The club exists so nobody in Westmoreland County has to climb alone unless they want to.

Two Local Crags

Coll's Cove — top-rope and sport lines in the 5.6 to 5.11 range. Breakneck Ridge — trad and mixed lines on sandstone. Both a short drive from Latrobe.

Ropes You'll Actually Climb On

New members are paired with a mentor for their first three meets. Nobody stands around waiting for a rope — we set anchors early and rotate.

Belay Sign-Off

Top-rope belay cert is required to belay a club rope. We run sign-offs at the first meet of every month, no charge for members.

Access & Stewardship

We hold access agreements at both crags. That means picking up tape, respecting closures, and quiet approaches. Every member signs on.

    WHERE WE MEET.

We rotate between the two spots so nobody wears out a single line and both landowner agreements stay in good standing. Meets are cancelled or moved only for lightning risk or ice — not rain.

Sandstone crack lines with some sport bolts and exposed ridge finishes. Best after a dry stretch — greasy in the rain.

Exact parking pins and gate codes are shared in the members-only meets calendar. Access to the private easement at Coll's Cove is a courtesy — please don't share coordinates outside the club.

    Common questions

    BEFORE YOU
    EMAIL US.

Four things we get asked every joining season. If yours isn't here, drop us a note from the contact page — we reply within a day or two.

    • 01

I've never climbed outside. Can I still join?

Yes. Most of our new members come from the gym or from a friend who dragged them along. We pair every new member with a mentor for their first three meets, and we always set at least one 5.6–5.8 top-rope. Join Social if you want to try, or Full if you already know you're in.

    • 02

Do I need my own gear?

A harness, helmet, and belay device get you started. The club owns three ropes, a small trad rack, and enough quickdraws for the sport lines at Coll's Cove. If you're missing something at your first meet, ask — somebody will always have a spare.

    • 03

      What if the weather turns?

Rain reschedules to Sunday. Ice or lightning risk cancels the meet. Weather calls go out by 6pm Friday to the email on your membership — check your inbox before you drive.

    • 04

      How do payments work?

Check or Venmo to the treasurer at your first meet. We deliberately don't take cards — no subscriptions, no fees, no billing surprises. Everyone renews on 1 September; mid-year joins are pro-rated.
